OUR BACKGROUND

Created in 1957, the Department of Administration acts as the business manager for North Carolina state government. Eighteen individuals have served as secretary of the department since its creation. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property.

In addition, the department provides Internal Services and Programs. Internal Services include the maintenance of state-owned buildings and grounds and leadership in managing the department's information resources. The department's programs provide advocacy, assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.

To deliver services for other state agencies, state employees, our communities, and our fellow citizens effectively, responsively, and cost-efficiently.

Upcoming Events and Meetings
May 28 State Construction Office – the State Building Commission will meet to discuss and approve Designer Selections and adopt rules regarding the state’s capital facilities development and management program. May 30 North Carolina License to Give Trust Fund Commission – the NC License to Give Trust Fund will meet for their Quarterly Meeting on May 30, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at the NC Eye Bank, 3900 Westpoint Blvd., Suite F, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The purpose of the meeting is to review, discuss and vote on grant applications. These applications were received for consideration to further the mission of the License to Give Trust Fund Commission as it relates to organ, eye and tissue donation education, and awareness and Advance Care Planning.
