Youth Rights and Responsibilities

Young people today are faced with many decisions.This handbook was created to help inform middle and high school students about their rights and responsibilities.Youths can use this information to make informed decisions about issues that will affect the rest of their lives and to support them in their journey toward becoming mature, responsible adults. The handbook includes sections on school, employment, money, transportation, health, drugs and alcohol, abuse and neglect, juvenile justice, parental rights, emancipation and marriage, and civic participation.

You and the Justice System

This guide to North Carolina's juvenile justice system will help you get a basic understanding of the system and how it works for juveniles, their families and the community. It includes pertinent information for juveniles in the courts, their parents, and victims or witnesses.
